David Bowie fans can rejoice this season with Vans latest footwear collection. Bowie was a master of reinvention and his style and artistry influenced and inspired generations of musicians, fashion designers, artists and everyday people. This unisex capsule shoe collection commemorates the life and legacy of David Bowie and pays homage to five key moments from his career, starting from 1969’s Space Oddity to 2016’s Blackstar. We adore the entire collection but discover our faves below.
DB Era (Space Oddity) | $70 (USD) | vans.com
Vans’ first skate shoe, the DB Era, is covered in a variety of colours and cylindrical shapes. The inspired design resembles the self-titled album cover from which Space Oddity appeared.
DB Slip-On 47 V (Hunky Dory) | $70 (USD) | vans.com
The checkerboard coat David Bowie wore on the cover of his Hunky Dory album inspired these slip-on shoes. They boast fuzzy checkerboard uppers accented by yellow suede and the musician’s name on the pull-tab.
DB Sk8-Hi Platform 2.0 (Ziggy Stardust) | $85 (USD) | vans.com
Ziggy Stardust’s red boots inspired these sleek red patent leather high tops. Like the character, they are bold, fabulous and chic all at the same time.
DB Sk8 Hi (Aladdin Sane) | $80 (USD) | vans.com
The legendary lightning bolt motif from Aladdin Sane accents these pearlescent pebbled leather low tops. And Vans’ signature Sidestripe also gets layered over top.
DB Old Skool (Aladdin Sane) | $75 (USD) | vans.com
The iconic Aladdin Sane lightning bolt motif makes a second appearance in this collection but this time with David Bowie’s logo on a pair of high tops. Vans’ classic checkerboard print and signature Sidestripe in black and white are the backdrop.
DB Classic Slip-On (Blackstar) | $70 (USD) | vans.com
Finally, a giant black vinyl star appears on another slip-on in tribute to David Bowie’s final album, 2016’s Blackstar.
We love this entire collection but our faves are definitely the red patent leather high tops and the fuzzy black and white checkerboard slip ons with the yellow suede accents. Either of these two shoes would effortlessly add a little glam to any look. But how about you? Leave us a comment and let us know if you’re loving any of these kicks.
